Chemical plants and refineries put lubricants in contact with things that are designed to react: acids, caustics, solvents, oxidizers and hot hydrocarbons. A grease that breaks down in that service does not just stop lubricating. It can leak, contaminate product or lock up a valve in a hazardous area.
Where lubrication fails
Valves are the most common trouble spot. Sealants dry out or wash away, plugs seize and operators force them, and leaks follow. Seals swell when exposed to the wrong base oil. Fasteners on hot, corrosive equipment seize and have to be cut off at turnaround.
Better chemistry for harsh chemistry
PFPE greases are nearly inert and handle conditions no petroleum or silicone grease can. Synthetic valve sealants stay soft and pumpable. Silicone greases cover a wide range of O-ring and plastic applications at a lower cost than PFPE.

When do we need a PFPE grease?
When the lubricant is exposed to strong acids, caustics, oxidizers or solvents, or when temperatures are too high for other greases. HUSKEY PF Series greases resist fuming sulfuric acid and high pH caustic and have no flash point.
